Endeavor to Persevere

Keeping pace with the ever-changing landscape within the solar industry is a daily task.  The new tariff on modules and cells announced last week is yet another bump in the road we must overcome.

To provide some perspective, when Standard Energy first began operations in the mid-Atlantic region in 2004, the cost per installed watt hovered close to $10.  Incentives were minimal or non-existent and the cost of electricity was artificially low due to regulation.  Significant challenges to say the least.

Since then we’ve seen radical change within the industry related to incentives, regulations, cost of goods, just to name a few.  Most importantly with these changes, good and bad, we’ve observed contractors come and go.  When I first got into the business, there were only 2 other solar companies in the region.   During the peak years between 2009 to 2012, there were over 40 companies.   While we all agree that competition is healthy, the struggle of the industry to gain a foothold and evolve as a meaningful source of energy, there must be skilled and reliable companies with integrity to deliver day in day out, year in year out.

We’ve overcome tremendous obstacles since 2004.  The latest bump in the road will soon be in our rearview mirror.  Standard Energy continues to be there for our customers and believes it is our duty to them, the solar industry and future generations to entrench this clean, renewable source of energy into our nation’s destiny.
